Why is orthodontic treatment necessary?
The position of the teeth in the jaw and the position of the upper and lower jaw are important factors in keeping teeth healthy and the masticatory apparatus functioning well into old age. In addition, misaligned teeth and thus limited mobility of the jaw can also lead to other problems, such as headaches, neck tension, etc. In order to live a pain-free life, orthodontic treatment is certainly useful. In addition, straight teeth without gaps or crowding ensure a more beautiful overall aesthetic appearance.
Can misaligned teeth be prevented?
Some of the misaligned teeth have their origins in childhood. Thumb sucking can promote this, as can early loss of milk teeth due to poor oral hygiene. This type of misaligned teeth can be prevented with a little care. However, there are also misalignments and anomalies that are hereditary.
How long does orthodontic treatment take?
Depending on when treatment begins, the patient's age, and the type of jaw or tooth misalignment, the duration of treatment varies greatly. Anything from a few months to several years is possible. In general, we look for ideal solutions to achieve the desired results in the shortest and most pleasant treatment time possible.
How much does orthodontic treatment cost?
Similar to the duration of treatment, there is no universal statement about the treatment costs. The public health insurance covers the costs of the contracted dental services. Any co-payment of 10-20% is usually reimbursed after treatment has been completed. Special services beyond the contractually guaranteed services must be paid privately. Here we advise and inform you openly and transparently in advance of treatment about which services are covered by the health insurance company. For adult patients, the public health insurance usually does not cover the costs of orthodontic treatment. For private patients, it depends on the tariK whether treatment costs are covered.
Removable or fixed braces or an alternative?
In our practice we use both removable and fixed braces. Depending on the findings, we decide which method has the best chance of success. In addition to the classic removable and fixed braces, we also offer tooth corrections using the patented INVISALIGN system. Depending on whether the problem is a misaligned jaw, gaps between teeth, crowding or twisted teeth, all methods have their advantages and field of application.
Do teeth have to be removed during treatment?
We try everything possible to preserve your healthy teeth and to improve your dental health without major interventions and surgeries. In rare cases it is necessary to remove milk teeth prematurely or permanent teeth in order to give the other teeth enough space for a correct dental appearance.
What treatment options are there for adults?
Especially in adulthood, you don't want to wear fixed braces for several months. That's why we specialize in Invisalign, a tailor-made transparent brace that can be used to correct misalignments even in adulthood. There is therefore no general age limit for orthodontic treatment. The condition of the teeth is determining for a successful treatment.
How quickly can a consultation appointment be arranged?
We also try to offer our new patients a consultation appointment with as little waiting time as possible. We can usually do this within 14 days of the appointment request.
